Instagram Now Allows You To Limit DMs And Comments From People Who Do Not Follow You

Good news for every Instagram user!

Instagram now allows you to limit Direct Messages and Comments from people who do not follow you.

The company introduced 3 safety features after football stars of team England were hit with racist messages and remarks after they lost in Euro 2020 finals.

The latest update allows people to limit the thing people can say on their platform.

People who do not follow you or recently started following you are the ones that cannot comment or send a DM to you.

The feature is available for both Apple and Android users.

For people that are wondering why this feature was released, it was done for social media users who want to interact with other users while keeping the negativity away.

This is not the only thing they brought in.

Instagram also is working on hidden words, which is a feature that was launched in April this year. This feature allows people to filter DMs with offensive words, phrases and emojis. In case someone does send them to you, they will go to a hidden folder.

Instagram said:

We hope these new features will better protect people from seeing abusive content, whether it’s racist, sexist, homophobic or any other type of abuse.  We know there’s more to do, including improving our systems to find and remove abusive content more quickly, and holding those who post it accountable.

Besides Team England, many people from all over the world get racist remarks from random people and this feature for sure will play a huge role in making them feel safe on the platform.
