Despite being 6 years old, the iPhone 6s, yes, the 6s, will be getting the latest iOS 15 update from Apple and everyone in the world that are still using the classic device are loving the news.
In September this year, the iPhone 6s will turn 6 years old and people think that this device will still be useful in this generation considering that Apple recently announced that it will be getting the iOS 15 update that they will be releasing this year.
If you are one of the users that are still using the phone despite being that old, you are still likely to use it for 1 year.
The phone is eligible for the iOS 15 upgrade when it officially drops for the public this fall.
It was announced recently that the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and iPhone SE (first generation) will be getting the update this fall.
Please remember that the 3 devices that we listed above were all shipped with iOS 9. This means that they are the oldest devices to receive the operating system updates this year.
So why is this that big of a deal?
Well, 6 years is really long for a mobile device and certainly, the iPhone 6s is currently the oldest phone that has received another latest update for its operating system.
However, there is a catch.
Not all the features that are available on the latest update such as the Google Lens-Esque, Visual Lookup, Live Text, Portrait Mode in FaceTime, and other things will not work.
Another thing that people are concerned about is the fact that this newer, more heavier software, will slow down the device, which is currently rocking the A9 processor.
However, the last iOS 14 update on the device showed no signs of slowing down the device.
It is also possible that the software will be affecting its battery life, especially if your batter is still the original one.
Not only that, but the widgets and other apps, which will become heavier are going to drain the battery faster.
However the thing with this is that we cannot make a proper conclusion without any tests. We now have to wait for the official drop of the update in order to carry out battery drain tests and many more.
