First step 

The first thing that you need to do is login into your account. If you are using your device, download the application on the App Store or Google Play. You can also download Instagram on your laptops and computers now.

Second step

The second thing that you need to do is click on the last icon that is present on the bottom right corner of your screen after you open Instagram. You should be looking at your profile right after you click the button.

Third step

The third thing that you want to do is click on the three lines that you can find on the top right corner of your screen. That button should be leading you to the settings section of the application. This is where you can change the settings and many other things.

Fourth step

The fourth step is click on the settings button that appears after clicking on the three lines on the top right corner of your device.

Fifth step

Upon clicking settings, you will be redirected to a new page, which is the page where you can find the security settings. You want to click on the word settings.

Sixth step

After clicking on the security word, you will be re-directed to a new page, where you will find two-factor authentication. You want to click two-way factor authentication in order to add more security.

Seventh step

The last step is to choose which type of authentication you want. You can either go with mobile number, the authentication app itself, and additional methods, it’s up to you if you want to go with that. 

How do the 3 main ways of two-way authentication work?

Authentication app – Instagram now has its own authentication application, which will only allow a bunch of devices to use your account. Any person trying to get into your account while you have the authentication app will require to have approval from that application before they can actually log-in.

Text Message – with text messages, Instagram will be sending a code to your personal number, which you have to type in when you login from a different device.

Additional Method – the additional method includes the option to have a bunch of codes. Those codes will work if you don’t have access to the number that you are using in the two-way authentication.
