How To Turn On Picture-In-Picture On YouTube Premium – For iPhone And iOS Only

In June this year, YouTube announced that they are going to be bringing picture-in-picture feature to all eligible iOS devices.

Fast forward to August this year, YouTube has announced that the feature is now available to use.

However, they also said that the feature is only available for YouTube prime subscribers.

So how can you get it?

First step:

If you are already a YouTube Premium subscriber, all you would have to do is open up your Browser and go to youtube.com/new.

Second step:

The second thing that you would have to do is scroll down and find “Picture-in-picture on iOS” and click “Try it out”.

Third step:

You will be then required to sign into your account.

Fourth step:

Once you have signed in, you will have to watch a video and navigate away from the app using the home button or by simply swiping up. Automatically, the picture-in-picture feature will start.

Important note: Please do keep in mind that locking your phone while watching a picture-in-picture video will automatically pause the video. In order to resume it, you would have to resume the video via the lock screen media controls.

The thing is, YouTube did say that this only works on iPhones, but users from all over the world are claiming that they managed to get the feature working on iPads too.

However, in order to get the feature, you would have to delete your application in order to get the feature on the iPad.

Until when is the feature available?

YouTube has made it clear that the feature is going to be available until October 31, 2021. Right now, now one knows what’s going to happen on November 1, 2021.

Let’s just hope that this feature is going to stay and would be available for everyone to use in the near feature.
