A guide to using Google Lens on the iPhone
An iPhone is a versatile device with many functionalities and now Google has made its image recognition mobile app the Google Lens more user-friendly and more easily accessible for iPhone users.
The app is designed to use visual analysis to identify real-world objects like buildings, signboards, trees and plants, devices, books and much more by simply using the phone’s camera. The Google Lens is also capable of saving email addresses, looking up words and help in shopping searches, etc.
Till now the app was available in the Google Photos app only making it mandatory for a user to click a photo before taking the advantage of this functionality but now Google has included in the Google Search app on the iPhone making it more convenient for the users as they no longer have to click a picture before the service can identify an object. Just tapping the object you want to be identified is enough.
How to use Google Lens via the Google Search App?
Obviously, you will first have to download the app if you do not already have the app. Download the app here. Once the app is successfully downloaded and installed, tap on the Google Lens icon on the search bar on the left of the microphone.
In case the app is not visible, close the app fully and then re-open it.
Open the next screen and you will see – “Turn on camera to use Lens” – at the bottom. Tap it.
The app will ask your permission to use the camera. Press “OK.”
Now the app is ready for use. Just point the camera towards the object, text, etc you want to identify or know more about and tap on it
Google Lens will identify the object and the search results will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
How to use Google Lens via the Google Photos App?
No doubt using the Google Lens through the Google Photos app requires the user to first click a photo and then open the photo with Google Photos in order to launch Google Lens But despite the additional step required using Google Lens through the Google Photos app is also easy.
Obviously, you will first have to download the app if you do not already have the app. Download the app here. Once the app is successfully downloaded and installed select a photo from the display.
Suppose you select the photo of the cat in this display.
After the photo opens navigate to the bottom of the screen and tap on the Google Lens icon.
Then Select “Continue” that will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
When you select continue, Google Lens will start functioning and show all relevant information about the photo and will immediately bring up whatever information about the photo that Google can find.
